Product & Ranch General Q&A

What is Pasture Based and Why Should you choose Pasture based Beef?

Pasture-raised beef refers to beef from cattle that are grazed on pasture throughout their lives. Unlike conventionally raised beef, which often comes from animals raised in feedlots with limited access to fresh grass, pasture-raised beef offers several benefits:

  1. Nutritional Quality: Pasture-raised beef tends to be higher in beneficial fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins compared to conventionally raised beef.
  2. Environmental Impact: Raising cattle on pasture contributes to regenerative agriculture, which helps restore soil health and sequester carbon. Practices like rotational grazing mimic natural behaviors and promote both animal welfare and land recovery.
  3. Healthier Animals: Pasture-raised animals experience a more humane life, with daily access to fresh grass. This results in healthier, happier cows and better meat quality.

So, choosing pasture-raised beef not only benefits your health but also supports sustainable farming practices!

● How is your beef packaged? Our expert butchers use a combination of brown paper wrapping and vacuum sealing, depending on whether the packages will be shipped or pick up.

● What does the price include? Everything. Harvesting, dry aging, cut & wrap, shipping supplies, dry ice and freight!

● Is this beef raised locally? Yep, Right here in the beautiful Pacific Northwest

● Do you use antibiotics? Growth Hormones/implants? Nope.  We raise our animals as naturally as possible with little intervention or handling on our part. All our calves are born and raised by their mom on pasture.

● How do you raise your beef? Naturally. Preston and Rachel start making haylage every Spring and run clear through Summer to insure that we have premium quality feed free or herbicides and chemicals. We know what goes into our beef because we grow and harvest it ourselves.

● What sort of ranching practices do you use with your operation? We focus on regenerative farming. Our cows graze and fertilize our fields allowing for maximum nutrients for both the animals and the soil. Healthy soil produces wonderful forages that go right back into our animals when they return to graze again. Its a beautiful cycle that aids in carbon sequestration and is the gold standard.

● What breed of cattle do you raise? Angus with a splash of Hereford here and there. Our animals are 100% American, born and raised within the beautiful Lewis County, Washington.
